The term “root canal” has received a lot of negative attention over the years. However, our team wants to use every treatment to relieve pain and help you feel better. A root canal treatment can relieve pain and also save your permanent tooth from needing to be extracted.
Our Goal Is Comfort and Quality
We want you to feel at ease during your root canal treatment. Our office is equipped with several amenities to help you feel comfortable. During your treatment, our staff will talk to you to ensure you are feeling relaxed.
A root canal treatment is designed to get rid of infection and pain. Removing infection from inside the tooth allows us to save the outer structure of the tooth and protect it with a dental crown. This also prevents the infection from spreading and damaging the surrounding teeth
Symptoms of Tooth Infection
You may be experiencing symptoms related to a tooth infection. Call us right away if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Tooth pain that is worse when you eat or touch the tooth.
- A tooth injury that has caused a crack or break.
- Severe tooth pain that keeps you up at night.
- Change in tooth coloration, usually a darkening.
- Your tooth becomes sensitive to heat or cold.
- The gum area around your tooth is swollen and red.
- Visible infection or an abscess tooth.
Tooth pain can be healed with the proper dental treatment. Don’t hesitate to call if you have severe tooth pain. We can often find same-day appointments for our emergency patients.
The Root Canal Process
Our efficient dental team at Coniglio Family Dentistry starts by helping you feel comfortable. We use localized anesthesia so you’ll only feel light pressure. We’ll then go into the inner canals of your tooth and remove the infected material—leaving just the pain-free outer structure. Dr. Coniglio cleans and dries the area before sealing or building up the tooth.
We only prescribe antibiotics when needed, and once you are finished, we’ll fit you for a dental crown. The crown helps protect the tooth by providing complete coverage in the bonding process—keeping germs and bacteria out.
